Come join us for the Northern Alberta Chapter Professional Development Fall Event with keynote speaker, Dr. Chris Eagle.

Keynote Speaker: Dr. Chris Eagle, Politics, Policy and Practice

The last 40 years have shown that fundamental change has been very difficult in Canada’s health care systems.  Other publicly funded systems around the world have changed in that period and seem to be getting better outcomes dollar for dollar than Canada. You have seen the Commonwealth rankings showing Canada at number ten. There are some key questions to be answered. First, what has produced this situation?  Second, what can be done about it? Third, what is the type of leadership that will be required to produce an effective remedy?  This talk will tackle these questions using examples lived and observed.

Dr. Chris Eagle
Dr. Eagle served for three years as President and CEO of Alberta Health Services. Prior to formation of AHS, he was President and COO of the Calgary Health Region. Dr. Eagle trained as a cardiac anesthesiologist and had a strong academic career in anesthesiology, serving as Professor and Head at the University of Calgary and Chief Examiner and Chair of the Specialty Committee in Anesthesia at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. He retired from the University of Calgary in 2011 but continues to hold adjunct professorships at the Universities of Calgary, Alberta, and Royal Roads. He serves as executive in residence to the Royal Roads’ Health Leadership Program and contributes his leadership skills to the O’Brien Institute of Public Health in Calgary and the School of Public Health at the University of Alberta. He maintains a busy speaking schedule to a variety of professional and public groups.
