About Us
We are a Status of Women Canada funded project on women's leadership in health care, health sciences and Indigenous health, co-led by:
Ivy Bourgeault, University of Ottawa Chair in Gender, Diversity and the Professions.
Karen Lawford, Assistant Professor in Gender Studies, Queen’s University
Jamie Lundine & Yvonne James, Doctoral students, Institute for Feminist and Gender Studies, University of Ottawa
Our project aims to achieve transformative systemic change in health care, health sciences, and Indigenous health through the increased participation, visibility, and advancement of women in leadership positions.
To achieve this goal we are:
- building an active network and community of practice of emerging and established women leaders and male allies
- enhancing their capacity to make transformative systemic change with evidence-informed tools.
We are supported in this initiative by our three amazing women leaders:
Dr. Gillian Kernaghan, President and CEO, St. Joseph's Health Care London
Dr. Nancy Edwards, Emeritus Professor, School of Nursing, University of Ottawa
Dr. Lisa Richardson, Vice-Chair, Culture & Inclusion, Department of Medicine, University of Toronto
and our key partner organizations:
Canadian College of Health Leaders
Canadian Health Leadership Network
